These tags included information on the nature and severity of the injury, treatment administered, and the soldier's identification details. This system ensured efficient triage and appropriate medical care as soldiers were moved from the battlefield to medical facilities.
The stripes on these tags were used to determine the soldier's transportability:
- 2 Stripes: Unfit for transport
- 1 Stripe: Fit for transport
- No Stripes: Able to march
